Thinking Like a Historian: Understanding and Teaching Historical Thinking Skills in South Carolina Social Studies
This self-paced training supports South Carolina social studies teachers (grades 4–6, 8, and U.S. History) in effectively teaching the historical thinking skills embedded in the 2019 College-and Career-Ready Standards. Participants explore the demands of each skill, design scaffolded questions and tasks, and develop strategies to foster student inquiry and critical thinking. By the end of the training, teachers will produce a classroom-ready resource to support disciplinary literacy, vertical alignment, and student achievement on the U.S. History EOCEP.
