Description:
The foundational concepts in Operations and Algebraic Thinking are extended to middle school mathematics as learners work with mathematical phrases and sentences using variables and numerical values to describe real world situations. Students begin to use properties of operations studied in prior grades to manipulate algebraic expressions, producing different but equivalent expressions for various purposes. This online course is designed to aid teachers in guiding students as they explore expressions and equations in middle school mathematics as one of the essential underpinnings in the transition to high school mathematics.
